In this expanding economy, industrial plants are increasing production which usually means an increase in demand for water, a precious and cost-intensive resource. Especially in areas where there is a water scarcity or due to an industry's desire for responsible sustainability, reuse of municipal wastewater effluent to satisfy freshwater demand has been evaluated and implemented.  Hear industrial water reuse experts converse on global experiences with the study, implementation, and lessons learned from reuse of municipal effluent at industrial complexes in this learning module.

At the conclusion of this learning module, participants will be able to

  • describe the ways to examine and compare costs of potable water and reuse water for industrial applications;
  • discuss perceptions and values from surveys on the potential to reuse water in different industrial applications; and
  • give examples of important elements of partnerships between industry and municipalities to address water reuse applications at industrial facilities.

This learning module is also available as a part of the Industrial Water Management and Reuse short course.
