In the foreseeable future, the impacts of climate change are expected to be widespread with respect to geographies and sectors around the world. Meeting these challenges will require understanding, collaboration and co-operation between states, countries, and across a multitude of industry groups and political bodies. This short course brings together representatives from the political, academic and industrial worlds to share their views on how their particular organizations and sectors are working towards this common goal of mitigating the effects of climate change, as well as making and managing the changes needed in how the world's populations live.

At the end of this learning module, participants will be able to

  • discuss impacts of climate change to both groundwater and surface waters;
  • explain the impacts of climate change on the spread of communicable diseases;
  • summarize the impacts of climate change on extreme storm events;
  • give examples of the important role of industry and the steps taken thus far; and
  • outline findings on the water sector’s emissions based on pace-setting process-N2O, sewer-CH4, and methanol-CO2 research to inform of vulnerabilities and opportunities.

This learning module is also available as part of the Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Change Short Course.
