This is a WEFTEC Curated Short Course, compiled from the most topical and in-demand content from WEFTEC and other WEF events.

As today's world drives towards sustainability, water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs) are confronted with nutrient limits, financial, and technical challenges. The course will provide engineers and utility representatives with more information about next generation mainstream deammonification concepts, focused on partial denitrification – anammox (PdNA), partial denitrification‐anammox (PdN‐AnAOB), utility case studies and deammonification technologies that could help ease the related headaches for various utilities.

At the end of this short course, participants will be able to

  • describe the process and applications of mainstream partial denitrification;
  • recognize strategies for full scale implementation of mainstream deammonification via PdN-AnAOB pathway; and
  • describe and compare different technologies to reduce nutrients.

This WEFTEC Curated Short Course consists of 5 learning modules (Next Generation Mainstream Deammonification Discussion Learning Module, Next Generation Mainstream Deammonification, In Depth Presentations Learning Module, Deammonification Technologies and Solutions Learning Module, Future Thinking on Nitrogen and Phosphorus Removal Learning Module, Low DO Applications for Nutrient Removal Technologies Learning Module) as well as some bonus content and additional resources. On completion of all learning modules, learners will receive a badge that can be shared on networking sites such as LinkedIn.
