This module will provide attendees with an opportunity to discuss implications of using wastewater for tracking Covid-19 infection rates well as discuss the fate of Covid-19 causing virus within water resource recovery facilities and drinking water treatment plants. Presenters will include Professor Francis De Los Reyes from North Carolina State University, and Dan Gerrity from Southern Nevada Water Authority, both world renowned experts on infectious diseases in the water sector.

At the end of this learning module, participants will be able to

  • summarize research that is measuring the presence of the virus in untreated sewage wastewater and collecting data; and
  • outline insights into monitoring wastewater for indicators of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
