Managing and reducing infiltration and inflow (I/I) into sanitary sewer systems is a high priority for many utilities that requires substantial time, effort, funding and political will. As regulations governing sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and other wet weather discharges evolve, regulators continue to require cost-effective solutions to reducing excessive I/I in sewer collection systems. Sanitary sewer rehabilitation is an essential component to reducing I/I. WEF Collection System Committee members developed the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Fact Sheet issued in 2017. Subsequent workshop participation shows significant interest in learning about the sewer rehabilitation methodologies available to collection system owners for developing cost effective ways to manage and reduce I/I from the public sewer and private connections.
This webcast is intended to offer participants an opportunity to learn about or expand their knowledge of successful rehabilitation methodologies, with a focus on I/I reduction. Collection system experts will build upon the Fact Sheet by speaking on their experiences with sewer rehabilitation methodologies, advancements being developed in sewer rehabilitation, approaches to reducing private property I/I from lateral sewers and answering questions.
The webcast will help participants, both experienced and the inexperienced, to better understand the prevailing rehabilitation methodologies in the industry, when/where to apply those methodologies and that there may be more than one suitable technique to reduce I/I and improve structural condition.
