This is a WEFTEC Curated Short Course, compiled from the most topical and in-demand content from WEFTEC and other WEF events.

With many utilities turning to digital solutions, Intelligent Water Systems (IWS) is now a common term at many water resource recovery facilities.  From data analytics to computational fluid dynamics (CFD), we are seeing IWS solutions integrated at both the facility and sewershed level throughout the water sector.  In this short course you’ll hear from experts and utilities on their experiences integrating different IWS solutions into their every day operations.

At the conclusion of this short course, participants will be able to

  • describe effective applications of data-driven methods to water resource recovery facility projects;
  • recognize the importance of operator experience and process knowledge in IOT applications;
  • list benefits of implementing digital solutions, including service delivery, workforce development enhancements, infrastructure reliability, operational efficiency, financial resiliency, regulatory compliance, and safety and security;
  • discuss how utilizing computer-based design combined with physical based design can validate results and build trust for improvements; and
  • explain how digital tools are a valuable benefit to existing personnel at the water resource recovery facility, as well as a training resource for incoming personnel

This WEFTEC Curated Short Course consists of 3 learning modules (Next Generation Data Analytics; Applying CFD from Primary Treatment Through Disinfection; Toward the Digital Sewershed) as well as some bonus content and additional resources. On completion of all three learning modules, learners will receive a badge that can be shared on networking sites such as LinkedIn.
